LEBANON RUGBY NATIONAL TEAMS
The Phoenix is the National Team of the Lebanese Rugby Union Federation. The first international match was against Jordan in 2010 in Dubai and the Phoenix gained their first victory, running out 27 - 8 winners. The Lebanese National team has competed in the Asian Rugby Championships over the past few years achieving success in 2012 by defeating Pakistan, Uzbekistan and Laos in the A5N Division 4 Championship to advance to Division 3. The Phoenix have competed in the Asian Rugby Championship Division 3 every year since, going 3 years unbeaten, winning the division in 2013, 2014 and 2015. 2015 was also a milestone in the history of the Lebanese Rugby Union Federation as it was the first time the Asia Rugby Championship was hosted in Lebanon.
WOMEN
The Lebanese Women’s Rugby Union team was formed and played its first international fifteens match against a visiting Egyptian side in 2012. In 2016, a Phoenix Women’s Select Side competed in the Dubai Rugby Sevens, winning the Plate category of the tournament in their first appearance. The Phoenix Women now focus on Sevens Rugby, competing annually in the Asia Rugby Womens Sevens Series - West.
JUNiORS
Lebanon Rugby recently introduced age grade national representation from U20s to U14s, as we further establish our player development pathways to bolster home-grown players to ultimately represent Lebanon at the pinnacle.
